The start


August saw me doing the program that was given by Shawn.  (posted at end)

It was some hot in Cambridge in August…but outside I went to the gravelly back patio to skip and pushup.  In the rain, I did my running.  It felt good to be trying.  No one was watching me.  It was me, my clock, and my heart beat.

G taught me how to skip.  Who knew that we didn’t learn skipping in my day, the same as they teach it now.  No, not one foot after the other.  Little hop. No, don’t swing your arms. Hands out front, let the rope come round.  Nope, skipping is not simple.  He adjusted my rope, making it the right length. He came out & encouraged. Try this, do that, what about this….without him, there is no way that I could have done it.

By end of August, my knee no longer died ever day.

I was no longer afraid of having a heart attack when my heart started to race. I knew that I wouldn’t pass out if I got winded. I started to know what my body feels like when it is working.

But, September was a return to school for G. Life got busy, travel for work, and before you knew it….I was slipping into bad patterns.

Christmas, with G at home reminded me, I need to do this program for me.

A cheque was sent and I was signed up for the January intro
